Communication is key in all relationships
This is true even when it comes down to the relationship we have with ourselves. Though we live in a society that pushes the idea of thinking of others before we think of ourselves, we at the Banyan believe in the opposite. If you are functioning and available at 100%, then you can give 100% of yourself to others. However, if you are experiencing a health concern and functioning at 50%, then that is the total available for others. As part of our overall approach and method, we emphasize that the most important relationship in life is the one we have with ourselves.
There is constant communication occurring within us. Our body, our emotions, and even the thoughts and thought patterns within our minds are all constantly communicating with us. This internal communication is key for achieving a greater level of understanding of our own Self and system, while also allowing for further therapeutic advancement. As Therapeutic Guides, we believe that a person knows themselves better than anyone else. They live with themselves 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The person is ultimately aware of what they are feeling or sensing as well as why they have that feeling or sensation. Communication and the acknowledgement that there is an ongoing internal conversation is the beginning of the path to healing. Whether the problem is depression, anxiety, physical pain, or anything else that the body produces, clarifying internal communications is the beginning of the conversation that will lead to the therapeutic solution of any health concern. Besides, what better way for people to get to know themselves than through connecting with their internal communication?
